Finger play is very important in the development of your baby. Over the summer Ms.Erin, a Children's Librarian at Whitney Library, create a weekly video of a finger play you can do with your child. View them under Storytime - Fingerplay Friday 1-4 and 5-8.

Under Library House Rocks in the The Impact of Your Library we have added two videos. The first video is about U.S. Congressman Joe Heck's visit to the Spring Valley Library and the second video has Neon joining Jeanne Goodrich, the Library Director to share with you why it is important to read to your child for 20 minutes each day.

We hope you enjoy viewing these new videos.  We would like to hear how the library impacts you.  Please let us know by leaving a comment below.

Got two minutes?  Learn how to use a database!  We just added 3 short videos on how to use these databases:
  • CultureGrams
  • The New York Times 1855-2005
  • SIRS Issues Researcher (Opposing Viewpoints)
As an extra bonus you can download and print out a quick start guide for each database.

There is also a video Why Databases (a little longer - 5 minutes) on why you should use a database instead of using a search engine on the Internet.

Videos can be found under How-to Videos. Select How to Use Databases.

Let me know if this helped you or if you have other video suggestions.

Aging gets a ribbing in Kim Russell's Life After 50. Her original play is an amalgam of observations, advice and gags about life changes that aging inflicts. Check it out under Events at the Library.
